Chasing the most ambitious build is honestly the fastest way to end up with a desk that never gets done. Asarabia Columbia, a freelancer based in South Korea, took the opposite route: slow it down, pick battles you can actually win, and let the daily rhythm handle the rest. His finalist spot at the World Desk Setup Festival 2026 speaks for itself — a custom top, displays bolted straight to the wall, and every piece of gear exactly where his hands naturally fall.

Wall-Mounted Screens, Custom Top Holding It Together

The desktop plate? Custom-built. Not a single display sitting on an arm or stand — everything's mounted to the wall. You've got an MSI MAG401QR in the center for primary work, a 65-inch TCL 65C855 sitting above it, and a SOTSU FlipAction flip screen angled off to the side. Three screens, three completely different jobs. No overlap, no fighting for the same window.

Tall speakers anchor the floor on both sides, acoustic panels run behind them, and a BenQ Halo 2 light bar sits right above the work surface for illumination. The machine underneath is an NZXT H1 rig with an Intel i5-10400F and an RTX 3070. A SIDIZ T80 chair parks itself on a round rug with a throw blanket draped over the back, and an OFRAME STILO riser lifts the desktop up another level.

Everything You Need Within Arm's Reach, Everything Else Tucked Away

The actual working surface stays lean on purpose. An AM Relic 80 keyboard and AM Infinity Mouse sit on a Maywood Linoleum desk mat, with Sennheiser HD600 headphones parked on a stand at the edge. A Razer Chroma light strip gives off the ambient glow.

Anything else? It lives in storage. IKEA CAPITA and IKEA BROR units swallow boxes, backups, and parts that would otherwise creep onto the work surface. Drawers on one side, open shelves on the other — the desktop itself stays clear enough to actually get things done.

Why Slow Building Actually Beats the Rush

Plenty of people try to dream up the hardest possible setup and knock it out all at once. Do that, and your failure rate climbs fast. Take your time instead, make moves you can control, and the whole thing survives real daily use way more often.
