Braun and BEAMS basically took this familiar travel clock and dressed it up for the occasion. The BC02X marks BEAMS' 50th anniversary — a limited edition that ditches Braun's usual black-and-white thing for three case finishes and a set of primary-color hands that actually pop.
When a German Icon Meets a Tokyo Institution
BEAMS started in Harajuku back in 1976 and made its name by knowing what to pick and who to collaborate with. By 2026, they'd been doing this for 50 years — so they called up Braun, a German electronics company that's been around for over a century, to make a limited travel clock. Enter the BC02X.
The thing's compact — 5.7 × 5.7 × 2.7 cm. Plastic shell, quartz movement, runs on a single AA battery. Case comes in white, black, or orange.
Color That Actually Works
Here's where it gets interesting. Hour hand is red, minute hand green, second hand yellow — classic Braun move. The alarm hand? That's BEAMS orange, matching the buttons. The dial itself carries both the Braun quartz mark and a "bPr BEAMS" signature, so you know it's a collab without needing some big logo slapped on there.
The orange version takes a different approach — the small parts become pale gray instead, letting the case color be the star.
There's a light button that actually illuminates the dial when you need it, which is handy if you're checking the time in the dark.
Pretty Straightforward to Use
Most controls live on the front. There's a round button for snooze and light, plus a slider along the top edge that matches the design language. Flip it over and you get two knurled knobs — one with a clock icon for setting the time, another with a speaker icon for the alarm — and a battery door at the bottom. Pretty standard stuff, honestly.
The Bottom Line
Braun brings the functional design language it's had since the Dieter Rams days. BEAMS brings an actual appetite for color. The BC02X is where those two worlds collide, and you can see it happening right on the dial.
