Open-Air Rack Build: Gigabyte INFINITY RTX 5080 PC, No Case Needed

A full PC build on a FUTUREMACH SF-A Mark II open frame, pairing Gigabyte's 40th anniversary INFINITY RTX 5080 and X870 board with tidy routing.

Strip away the case and this is what you're left with: a full AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 5080 build sitting on a FUTUREMACH SF-A Mark II open-air rack, complete with Gigabyte's 40th anniversary INFINITY motherboard and graphics card just... out there. The whole idea's pretty straightforward — when your hardware looks this good, there's no need to hide it behind panels. No cable mess, nothing blocking the view.

Why Ditch the Case Altogether

Traditional towers trap everything inside. The SF-A Mark II keeps the motherboard upright on a small base plate instead, so your whole system ends up looking like one solid design object sitting on the desk. From the side, it's barely thicker than the 360mm radiator — look at it from a low angle and you can see clean through to the other side.

Open-frame builds also change the whole cable game. GPU mounted on the rack's bracket, power supply bolted to the frame, and suddenly the only cable actually leaving the build is the one that plugs into the wall. Everything else takes short, straightforward paths along the board.

Cooling, Displays, and the FUTUREMACH Bracket Setup

The cooling side leans on TRYX. Three 120mm fans stack vertically along the radiator, each with a little animated character on a circular screen at its hub. There's also a curved display mounted on the cooler showing a bigger animated face that wraps around the edges. Pair that with two 60mm assist fans sitting above it, plus the motherboard's debug readout glowing blue off to the side, and suddenly cooling becomes part of the visual setup.

The card itself hangs from a chrome FUTUREMACH support bracket — takes the weight completely off the PCIe slot. The RTX 5080 INFINITY's twin silver-ringed fans sit front and center this way. From the side, the whole thing almost looks like a vertical tower of screens, except every screen is actually doing cooling or monitoring work.

Power, Put on Display

Power comes from a Seasonic PRIME 2200W Platinum sitting in its own open-sided frame section. The honeycomb grille and chrome accents face out, the switch and socket are just hanging there on the end panel, and the braided cables run bundled along the frame instead of sprawling across your desk.

When nothing's enclosed, the PSU stops being hidden infrastructure — it becomes part of the actual composition. The AC input's at the rear corner, so even the wall connection reads as intentional. One cable in, everything else self-contained.

Dead straight-on, you're looking at the curved screen in the middle, two small assist fans above it, and the RTX 5080 INFINITY's twin fans below. The X870 AORUS INFINITY motherboard wraps around everything, with the M.2 heatsink and angular AORUS shroud poking into the gap next to the card.

Pull back and the whole thing clicks into place: displays and I/O at the top, the card and its bracket in the middle, the PSU module behind, and that orange-lit base plate anchoring everything to the desk. You've got a complete system with zero panels, zero shrouds, zero cable mess — the rack itself is the whole aesthetic.

Wrapping It Up

If you're over the whole tempered-glass-case thing, this is what an open frame actually delivers: everything in view, minimal cable runs, and a look that works from basically any angle. Here's what's actually in there:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (boxed)
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte X870 AORUS INFINITY
  • Memory: OC LAB 24GB x2, 6000 CL26
  • SSD: Kingston FURY 8TB
  • Graphics card: Gigabyte RTX 5080 INFINITY
  • Frame: FUTUREMACH SF-A Mark II
  • Power supply: Seasonic PRIME 2200W Platinum
  • Cooler: TRYX 360 SE

  • Quick question — is the silver part of the graphics card aluminum or plastic?

  • It’s basically a gas stove anyway.

  • With the GPU mounted vertically like this, the hot exhaust blows straight at the motherboard.
