Quiet Air-Cooled ITX Build: Fractal Torrent Nano with RTX 5080

Air cooling in a small case can absolutely handle flagship hardware—and this build is living proof. We squeezed an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a Galaxy GeForce RTX 5080 into the Fractal Torrent Nano without a drop of liquid cooling. It took a few tries to nail the hardware choices and cable routing, but the end result? An all-white machine with blue-purple lighting that stands toe-to-toe with any glass-paneled showcase build out there.

Why the Torrent Nano

The Fractal Torrent Nano basically owns the title of best air-cooled ITX case you can buy right now. It'll swallow a flagship CPU cooler and an RTX 5080 or 5090D without breaking a sweat—exactly the breathing room this build needed.

That angled front intake? It's the case's signature move, and in white, it looks clean from every angle you look at it. Along the front edge you've got your daily plugs: dual USB 3.0, USB-C, headset and mic jacks, power button—everything within arm's reach.

Fitting Flagship Hardware

The layout inside is pretty straightforward: white DeepCool Assassin 4S tower cooler on top, GALAX RTX 5080 Metal Master Platinum OC below, with RGB memory and braided sleeved cables neatly tucked in between. A 180mm blue-lit fan up front pushes air straight across both the GPU and cooler.

The white-on-white aesthetic keeps things feeling cohesive even with the side panel open, and those blue-purple lights give it just enough pop to grab attention. Nothing feels thrown together—each part knows exactly where it belongs. That's what you get after iterating on the design a few times over.

Cable Routing Behind the Tray

Behind the tray cable routing.

The back panel is where this build really earns its reputation. White sleeved cables run through Fractal's Velcro straps and cutouts in clean grouped bundles, keeping the motherboard's rear M.2 area wide open and clutter-free.

Since the case gives you room to adapt the routing approach to your own needs, you don't have to copy this setup exactly. But what you're looking at here is a rear panel that's just as intentional and polished as the front of the case.

  • I play WoW Hardcore while streaming on two platforms. Could you share a build for me? Budget under 4K, thanks. ITX specifically, I’m out of space.

  • That works. It really depends on which components you pick.

  • Fair point.

     Alex Morgan

  • Pretty much silent.

  • Buddy, is it loud when gaming on AAA titles day to day?

  • Assassin 4S.

  • You won’t if you follow the proper installation method.

  • I just bought mine too. Did you run into any scratched or damaged gold pins on the B850-I, OP?

  • Saved this. Don’t delete the post, I love this case.

  • I already ditched my AIO and went back to air cooling. Water cooling costs more, dies after 3-5 years, and nobody wants it secondhand. Air coolers hold their value and can practically be passed down three generations just by swapping the fan.
