Some cases you build in and forget. This one stops you at the door. The Phanteks EVOLV X2 MATRIX pixel edition takes the flagship EVOLV X2 formula — three-sided tempered glass, brushed metal panels, a centered interior layout — and adds a 900-LED pixel matrix along the bottom PSU shroud. Powered down, it reads as a plain fabric-wrapped band. Power on, and the whole lower chassis lights up with animated pixel art through the weave. Here's how the full build came together.

What the Pixel Edition Changes

The EVOLV X2 already broke from the usual boxy template with its centered chamber layout, which keeps the GPU and motherboard visually balanced behind the glass instead of crowding everything toward one side. The MATRIX version builds on that with a long pixel-matrix light bar across the bottom power-supply cover — the reason it's called the pixel edition.

The clever part is the 90-degree corner design: the 900 individually controllable LEDs sit hidden behind a polyester fabric trim, so you get the glow without seeing a single diode. Off, the case looks like a matte fabric-and-glass monolith. On, light diffuses softly through the weave — noticeably gentler than the harsh punch of typical RGB strips — and the running animation becomes the build's signature.

Inside the Glass

The centered chamber keeps the AIO screen, GPU, and memory in clean view behind the glass.

Through the front and side glass, the centered chamber puts an ROG Crosshair X870E Hero motherboard and a Zotac RTX 5070 Ti OC on full display. The DeepCool LT 360 Vision AIO sits up top with its screen running live readouts — clock speed, GPU power draw, pump and fan RPM — and Phanteks D28 and D30 fans carry the warm amber lighting theme through the top and bottom of the loop.

The fabric lining continues along the interior frame, tying the inside of the case to the pixel band outside. Cables run behind the visible components, and the whole chamber keeps a consistent dark look broken only by the warm ring lighting and the Zotac card's white-and-silver shroud.

On the Desk

Placed on a desk next to a monitor and a pair of bookshelf speakers, the pixel band does most of the talking. From across the room it reads as a warm amber strip spelling out pixel graphics; up close, the individual LED dots resolve through the fabric. It's the rare build where the case itself is the light show — no extra strips or mods needed.

Editor's Notes & Summary

A striking take on the EVOLV X2 — the pixel matrix turns a clean flagship case into an interactive centerpiece, and the centered chamber does the hardware justice.
